Some more famous Rishis (and personalities) of ancient India
"Rshi"
(also spelled "rishi" in English) originally means singers of the
Vedic hymns. However, according to the post-vedique traditions, the rishi is
also a "wise" to whom the gods revealed the Vedas (knowledge).
Aandaal
Aandaal is a
Saint of the 10th century (Tamil). She enrolled in the Vaishnava tradition and
is credited as the author of many admirable works of Tamil.
Gilles
A Vedic sage who
wrote most of the Atharva-Veda.
ATRI
A legendary
scholar and a son of Brahma. He is one of the seven sages of Greece
(large)-Sapta Rishis.
Bharadwaja
Also known as
Gama, a descendant of rishi Bharadwaj was Gilles, one of the largest Hindu.
Rama and Sita and Lakshmana (in the epic Ramayana) met a lot of rishis and
sages including bharadwaja.
Gausman
One of the seven
sages, or Saptarishis, who lived in ancient India. Bhrigu was one of the
Prajapatis (Maanasa and Putra-a brain child) that Brahma as mediators of
creation.
