Discovery Science Place
5,000 from the RS & H Elevate Fund to the Discovery Science Place Museum in Tyler, Texas. The mission of Discovery Science Place is to awaken curiosity in young minds through hands-on and fun exploration. The museum has been popular in the Tyler community and East Texas since the early 1990s and continues to offer educational programs to promote STEM-based learning.
Students from the University of Texas at Tyler and community volunteers organize special learning sessions for primary and secondary school children. Discovery Science Place offers a touring museum for Title 1 schools in the communities of Tyler and East Texas.
These are schools where more than 50 percent of students receive a kind of food aid. Many of these schools are reluctant to allow students to leave the campus for security reasons. That is why Discovery Science Place brings them to the museum.
