The many medieval towns around Venice are wonderful to visit, in particular those with castles overlooking the. You can find ancient churches and monasteries in some of these small villages, show you some of the cultural past of the Italy.

Large cities


The first places, you should see when you search for medieval cities: Verona, Asolo and the fortified city of Marostica. Small towns


Many small villages is just as interesting to visit, and will be less crowded than the larger ones.

Arqua Petrarca is maximum in the province of Padua in the Euganean Hills. It is a very well-preserved city and named after the Italian poet Francesco Petrarca. The city is also famous for the thermal baths of Abano.

The walls around Soave are part of its historic charm, and they come with a Dungeon, towers and strongholds. The city is in a popular wine region and is worth a visit if you are taking a tour of the local wine.

In the province of Verona, you will find the village of Sirmione. It is on the shores of Lake Garda, on a narrow peninsula. As Soave is a castle open for guided tours. Della Scalas fort was built over hundreds of years, between the eighth and 14th century. Among the most important castle is the old Wharf where ships were held.
